Ford Uaw Tentative Agreement Details

Ford`s Dirksen said in a prepared statement: “Ford can confirm the UAW`s announcement that UAW and Ford have reached a preliminary agreement on a four-year contract. Further details will be announced at a later date. Ford Motor Co. and United Auto Workers reached a tentative agreement less than a week after UAW members ratified an agreement with General Motors Co. Negotiating teams led by Rory Gamble, vice president of the UAW-Ford Department, and Bill Dirksen, Ford`s vice president of labor affairs, quickly reached an agreement after starting “serious” discussion on economic issues on Monday. Contract negotiations with the Detroit Three moved to Ford after GM workers, who had been on strike for six weeks, ratified their deal on Friday. Experts expected a provisional contract with Ford to arrive fairly quickly. GM and the UAW had to start from scratch to enter into a new four-year contract. Negotiations with Ford – and fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV, the latest Detroit automaker to negotiate a 2019 contract with the union – have the advantage of following the model set by GM. With a preliminary agreement proposal in hand, the union will go to its National Ford Council, made up of all local UAW leaders, to review and vote on them for submission to members. If they do, they will go to the ratification vote in front of Ford`s 55,000 members. Neither Ford nor UAW would comment on the deal, except in prepared statements. After 40 days of United Auto Workers strike against General Motors, UAW executives and ford Motor Company have agreed on a new labor agreement. The UAW`s deal with Ford is similar to the union`s agreement with GM in October and still needs to be ratified by UAW workers at Ford.

The UAW did not hit Ford and, unlike the tense five-week bargaining period during the strike against GM, the UAW and Ford reached a tentative agreement in just three days. Ford Motor Co. and the United Auto Workers announced they reached a tentative agreement Wednesday on a new four-year employment contract covering the automaker`s roughly 55,000 unionized employees. . . .
